Long Island Manufacturing Companies
Shirley, NY -- Atlantic Industrial Technologies is hosting an open house at its manufacturing facility located at 90 Precision Drive in Shirley, NY to celebrate national Manufacturing Day on October 5, 2012. The open house will be held on October 5 from 10:30 am to3:00 pm and is open to members of the Long Island community. Atlantic Industrial Technologies designs and manufactures hydraulic, mechanical and control systems for a wide variety of industries including industrial, entertainment, military, infrastructure, and the energy sector.
Since 1983, Atlantic has worked closely with some of the best companies in the world including NASA, General Dynamics, PRG, Kiewit, Alberici, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Navy and Con Edison. Most recently, Atlantic was involved in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of 16 of the levees that protected the city of New Orleans from Hurricane Isaac. The gates that protected the city from the dangerous flood surges were powered by custom hydraulic systems designed and manufactured at Atlantic’s facility on Long Island.
Manufacturing Day is sponsored by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the U.S. Commerce Department’s Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and The Manufacturing Institute and supported by dozens of other national and regional manufacturing organizations.
Studies by the nonprofit Manufacturing Institute and others show that almost 80 percent of Americans believe manufacturing is important to our economic prosperity, standard of living and national security. Yet only 30 percent would encourage their children to go into manufacturing as a career. This is a trend that must be reversed.
